Welcome back!

Congratulations to all the wonderful 3rd graders who led Shabbat service last Friday night and to the 4th graders who participated in yesterday’s Shabbat morning services. A huge Yasher Koach to our students who read Torah for the first time! You all sounded amazing.

A brief shoutout to the youth groups, who had the largest ever participation in our Kings Dominion trip!

See you next week,

27 Nisan (4/23)

April 23, 2017

Hello everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful, festive Passover like we did here at the CBE Religious School.

Reminder: Today, Chai School will have adjusted hours, 3:30-7:45 PM, because of the JCRC’s Holocaust Teen Program at the JCCNV.

Tonight begins Yom HaShoah, the annual day of Holocaust remembrance. As we mourn those we lost in this horrible tragedy, we hope and pray that the human race will never again commit such atrocities. We must treat everyone with dignity and respect as we work for a better future for all people. Remember the words outside the Smithsonian Holocaust Memorial Museum: never again. Don’t forget to light your yellow candle.

There will be no Chai School next Sunday, April 30.

See you next week,

Jake Biderman

28 Adar (3/26)

March 26, 2017

Welcome back to the blog!

The Religious School is in full gear prepping for Pesach 5777! The kids are having a blast learning about the Exodus and having discussions about Moshe and the Israelites.

Next Sunday, April 2 is Good Deeds Day, an annual celebration of Mitzvot and Tikkun Olam with participants around the world. Here at CBE, the students will be doing their part to make the world a better place, and we encourage you to participate at home (check the CBE website for other Good Deed opportunities)!

That night (Sunday, April 2) is also the USY/Kadima Murder Mystery Night, a huge joint event between our two youth groups. Students 5th grade and up are invited to help solve the mystery (and have some delicious food too). For further information and to RSVP, contact Sara Pollack at

That’s all for now. Have a nice week!

February 26, 2017

Welcome back to the blog!

We’d like to begin with a huge Yasher Koach to the 7th graders for their wonderful davening at Friday night’s Shabbat services. It’s great to see young Jews in action!

A great time was had by all yesterday at the BEECC auction. Todah rabah to all who participated.

Purim is just around the corner, and tomorrow, Monday, February 27 is your last chance to order your Shalach Manot (Purim Baskets). This is an easy way to fulfill a mitzvah and help support the CBE Religious School at the same time. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Stephanie Taraday at

Next Saturday, March 4 is another Ruach Shabbat with Robin and Rebecca. All students grades K-5 are welcome to join us at 10:30 am for fun-filled learning!

Thanks for reading and see you next week!
